It’s pretty well known that at the centre of most technology and innovation clusters you will find a university driving much of the research, turning out new IP and entrepreneurs, and feeding the cluster workforce with talent at all levels .
I’m not a university expert but those whose opinions I trust tell me that NB’s universities have not played this role as much as we might like in the past. One UNB prof said just yesterday that the bulk of one of his recent classes was headed out of New Brunswick after graduation.
But there seems to be some interesting stuff going on these days at UNB. The Pond-Deshpande Centre is the latest example but it seems there is more of a buzz these days across several faculties and research areas.
This is good news, indeed.
