Monthly Labour Market Update

Here’s the monthly update on the labour market in New Brunswick as of August 2005. Total employment is down 0.1% from July and down 1% since last year. Across Canada, the number of people employed increased by 1.5% year over year.

The running total since the Tories took office is shown in the chart below. Four of the last six years in New Brunswick have showed a decline in total employment (August to August). The only other province close to that is Saskatchewan where three of the past six years have registered a drop in total employment.

Once again, looks like the Prosperity Plan is working…
