Quebec Economic Development Minister Raymond Bachand is today announcing the creation of a new public-private Quebec consortium to stimulate research into drug development in the province. The consortium brings three pharma companies – Pfizer Canada, AstraZeneca Canada and Merck Frosst Canada – together with various Quebec government bodies. It’s being hailed as a first in Canada, said Bachand, while leading a trade mission at the BIO 2008 mission in San Diego.
